Dodge 2500 NV5600 with a problem

I own a Dodge ¾ ton 2003 it has the 5.9L Cummins with the 6 speed NV5600 Manual transmission and 4WD.

Question: I installed a new clutch, throw out and front seal 4 years ago. Now its  whining  I think it a bearing noise I am wondering if there’s a common bearing that goes bad< I also need to know if any special tools required for the overhaul. Can you provide a bearing rebuild kit? If I purchase an new clutch from you could i return it if not needed?

Answer:   Some common problems with the 6 speed NV5600 transmission are mostly the rear main shaft bearing and the pocket bearing between the input and main shaft.  Also  the front counter shaft  bearing fail early sometimes.  The 6 Sp. NV5600 is not a easy transmission to overhaul due to  its weight and size. You will need a 15 ton Posi Loc puller and a wide bed press to disassemble the main .  Our shop press we use is a 55 ton air over hyd OTC press and it has to work at it.

  • Part Number RK5600 IS THE SYNCRO RING KIT cost is $470.58 plus S&H.
